Orphanage Trip

We recently returned to Saray Orphanage located a bit out of our city. When we were here before went to this orphanage regularly and made some great friends there! It was a fun reunion to begin going again. We did take students with us and they experienced the range of emotions that is normal for visiting this bleak of a place. The orphanage is home to about 250 kids with a range of physical and/or mental disabilities. Most of them are left at this orphanage because their parents are unable to care for them.

I, Jessica, have over my time visiting this place had a range of emotions and 'solutions' to fix this injustice. I feel at this time in my life I have a more realistic and well-rounded view of the place. For awhile I was unhappy with the staff, their modes of care and discipline, the fact that they would take home nice gifts for the orphanage kids for their own, etc. But now I see them as doing all they know how in a really tough place. They themselves are poor and have very difficult jobs. I see what these kids need that I can meet at this time is relationship. For someone to look them in the eyes and talk with them about God's love for them.
