Yesterday morning we awoke to someone knocking on our door to inform us that water was dripping from our apt into theirs. Bummer. So we found the culprit; a rusty hose like pipe under our sink. The good news is there was no real damage to our neighbor, our neighbor was really gentle and gracious, and we have a great plumber friend named Oruj who came over quickly.
Water in this country is kind of funny because no one has water pumping from the city all day like in the U.S.. Most people get water from 6 am -9 am and 6 pm - 9pm roughly. These time windows are helpful but it's not quite the same as having it all the time. Many people have a personal water tank that collects water during those times and then they can use it whenever during the day. (Note: the water flows from gravity so the water pressure leaves much to be desired.)
We have a tank and a little pump that makes the water come pretty much all day at a decent pressure... it's beautiful.
But back to the root issue... infrastructure! If I could give one request to the leadership of the country we live in, it would be... please invest in your infrastructure... your people need water available all day! ( Not to mention: heat, electricity, decent waste removal etc.)
That being said... we enjoy living here most of the time :).

Love this post! I had a major Russia flashback while reading it. Darn those days when you forget about the water and jump in the shower at 8:55, then promptly lose water with shampoo and soap all over. Ahh... infrastructure... the daily adventure...
